What is SST?
SST is an evidence-based practice for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) from 3 to 22 years old.
SST includes an adult-directed instruction in which social skills are targeted for improvement.
SST can occur in either a group or individual setting.
Why Use SST?
SST can be used to increase social interactions, play skills, regulation of emotions, perspective-taking, and communication skills.
Research studies have shown that social skills training has been used effectively with many age groups to achieve outcomes in the following areas: social, communication, behavior, play, and cognitive (for adolescents and teens).
